Q: I want a caricature drawn from a photo. How do we start?

A: Before you send photos, please contact me to introduce yourself and describe your project, whether it's a gift caricature, group shot, or something to promote your business. Once we proceed, the faces in your photos must be clear and as up-close as possible, capturing what the person looks like today!

Q: How do you charge for studio caricatures from photos?

A: Price depends on details and use of the caricature. A gift caricature starts at $150 for a full color 11x14" acid-free matted caricature of 1 person. Business caricatures, or caricatures for print, are priced higher because of use.

Q: Should I email you the photos or mail them?

A: Email is fine if you only want one or two faces drawn. But if you have many photos of different people, I prefer a package. If you live close to Framingham, MA, we can always meet in person to discuss your project if it requires a lot of detail. All photos are returned with the finished art.

Q: If I mail you photos, do you require anything else?

A: Yes, an information sheet with your contact info. and a written reminder of your project details. Also include the date you need the finished art. (And, depending on your project, a check for my services.)

Q: When do I pay you for the caricature?

A: For gift caricatures I request full payment in advance, by check, money order, or credit card via Paypal. For business oriented caricatures, I request a 50% deposit to start work, with the balance due upon completion of the art. Please contact me to discuss payment details for your project.

Q: Can I see the caricature in the sketch-phase to make sure I like it?

A: Not for gift caricatures - only for caricatures meant for business and promotional use and invitations. (I email the sketch for your approval.) For gift caricatures, once you hire me, the next thing you'll see is finished product!

Q: What if I don't like the finished caricature?

A: Not to sound snooty or conceited, but if you asked Picasso to draw a picture of you, and you didn't like it, would you ask him to make your nose just a little smaller? Me either! When you hire a caricaturist you give away control to their whimsy. If you've seen samples of my work and you like my style, I'm sure you'll be pleased. Be warned - I do not make revisions to gift caricatures, and only allow 1 revision for business-oriented caricatures and invitations. I work directly from your photo, using the style I advertise on this site. That's why your photo must capture what the person looks like today, not 10 years ago! (unless that's what you want!)

Q: If I live near Framingham, Mass., can you draw me live instead of from a photo?

A: Yes, if you live nearby, and you want a caricature of yourself for your business or invitations, we could meet in person. You simply pose for me while I draw a pencil sketch for your immediate approval. Then I take it home and complete the art!
